Veganism has grown in popularity in the mainstream over the last few years. This is a major plus to our mission of ending speciesism as we advocate by example for social justice and equality for all sentient beings.
Through this growth there still resides mis conceptions of who vegans are. The standard prejudice echoes that vegans are frail, underweight, malnourished, causcasion people. In reality there are many vegans of different races, shapes, sizes, genders, sexualities, ages and religions. Collectively we are a force of health, well being, diversity and unity.
There are vegans who believe that if you are not perfectly fit or instagram post worthy then you are doing a disservice to the cause. That you should not be spreading the vegan message. NO, this is absolute ego mania. Be empowered by your unique self. We don't have to fit in some box or category outlining what a vegan is supposed to look like.
I hope every curvy, thin or thick person of every age, race and gender out there knows you and your voice matter. Your shape, size, level of fitness, age, sexuality, race or colour are not key to the cause. You living with compassion and strength that is key. Every choice matters, every voice matters, let's stand united in our unique diversity. Let's stand with our voices calling to live in a way that prevents disease, to not cause another harm. To live with compassion driving our choices. One love.
